Visit the

Nerada Tea Room

Come and explore Australia’s largest tea plantation for yourself. Nested among Queensland’s highest mountain range, in the picturesque setting of Malanda, our 360-hectare tea estate is only an hour and a half drive from Cairns. We’d love to welcome you to our Tea Room where you can sit back, take in the stunning views across the tea estate and enjoy a fresh cup of tea.

Book in to enjoy our famous Devonshire tea and scones and seasonal light lunches or go behind the scenes with a farm tour or tea blending experience. Enjoy the warm hospitality of our Tea Room staff while you discover a new favourite brew.

Please get in touch if you’d like to host a special high tea for friends. We’re family friendly and would love to see you on your travels.

Our tea estate is also home to one of Australia’s rarest animals, Lumholtz’s tree kangaroos. There’s a family of them living in the trees outside our Tea Rooms. If you’re lucky, you might spot one of these creatures on your visit – just remember to look up.

What our

Visitors Say

This would have to be one of the cleanest and friendliness attractions that we have visited. Staff were so knowledgeable and helpful. The lunch was fresh, wholesome and generous servings. The tea of course was delicious. Recommend highly.

Best tea there is, lovely place for a day out, stunning scenery & a great cafe!

How many places can you enjoy an excellent lunch (or Devonshire tea) with tree kangaroos? Last time we visited, they were way down the “back paddock” but the manager was very kind and went out of his way to assist us. This time the tree kangaroos were right next door to the cafe and gift shop! People from all over the world visit to see this amazing creature. We enjoyed a lovely lunch. Thanks to all the crew at Nerada.

Very impressed with how the ladies at the tea room are taking the covid restrictions seriously while still being welcoming and friendly. Had a delicious Devonshire tea, enjoyed the generous serves of jam and cream. The tree kangaroos were a welcome bonus.

Beautiful countryside brings you to this gem in the tablelands. Fabulous staff and great value and tasty offerings in the cafe and some awesome deals for tours makes this a fantastic stop. Congratulations on your staff and covid safe practices too.

Fantastic Tea’s, Welcoming and Friendliest of Staff. Had The Devonshire Tea with Bev’s most delicious Scones, Jam and fluffy whipped cream. Lunch menu looks delicious. Played ball with the kids after their hot chocolates and looked at the amazing. Tree Kangaroo and her Joey high up in the trees. Some great little gift ideas in the tea rooms. We will definitely be back.

Gives you a look at the process from bush to cup in the life of tea leaves. Well laid out an the café is a must for a cuppa an a snack with plenty of choices to tempt the tastebuds. If you are lucky you may get to see the Tree Kangaroo’s, well worth the drive to get there .

We have visited this tea room before and again we were very impressed on our visit yesterday. The drive there is easy and beautiful. We saw a Tree Kangaroo high up sitting on a branch. Then a very pleasant tea and scone with superb scenery, and chance to sit, relax and enjoy a peaceful setting.

We were warmly welcomed to the Nerada Tea Plantation and had an exceptional lunch and a BIG pot of tea. So friendly and informative, enjoyed mixing my own tea blend and loved the jam and cream scones. Another highlight was seeing the tree kangaroo and a baby one as well. 5 stars from us.
